• From Joe & Danny

    November 7, 2018

    To the Brothers of DTN:

I would like to start with a thank you Mr. John Geraghty. As most of you know, we would not be where we are today without his help and efforts. John has decided to resign his position as President of the Delta Tau Nu Alumni Association to devote his time to receiving his doctorate and spending more time with his family.  John, thank you for everything you have done. Great job, and we appreciate the time and effort you put into bringing us back to life!

Danny Perugini, our new Vice President and I plan to follow the same Agenda as John as previously set up:

    • Continue to Increase the Membership

John Steiner and Danny will be heading up this key objective. John S. has done a good job pulling all of the pledge class contact information together along with the help from James Brothers from UD.  James is the Senior Director of Development and Principal Gilts Manager and he is helping us locate the “Missing in Action” Delt Brothers that we would like to find. Once we have those contacts, John and Danny will be electing one brother from each pledge class to act at the Membership Coordinator to contact those brothers to increase our membership and hopefully become active again. We plan to start this action very soon. If anyone would like to volunteer to help us, please let us know.

    • Communication & Events

Just over 2 weeks ago, we completed the 3rd annual Presidents Club Golf Tournament in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Hilton Head crew did an outstanding job once again. Thank you guys for your efforts!  We had a record turnout. And more importantly, Joe Somers dethroned 2-time champion, Tim Thurin by shooting a 73 to win the President’s Cup!  Also, we were able to raise over $1,200.00 toward the Scholarship Fund thanks to Mark Toteff,  Chas Basile and Phil Warth.  If you haven’t attended this event, please consider it next year. Hilton Head is a great place to visit in October with good weather, great beaches and excellent golf courses.

Hopefully our next golf event will be in Bonita Springs, Florida next February or early March. And don’t forget, that our next UD Reunion date will be in June 5th – 7th, 2020. Please stay tuned!

    • Grow the Scholarship Fund

So far we have helped 5 students at UD. This year our latest recipients are Ellie Pierce, who is the granddaughter of founding father Ray Pierce and Alyssa Barry. Our Scholarship Fund has approximately $104,000 now and growing. Tom Conway is our Delt representative who works with UD on this fund. Tom will be giving periodic updates to the brothers and will answer any questions that you might have regarding the fund.

There is one last objective that I need to address. When we last met in Dayton in June, we set a financial goal for the scholarship fund to exceed $125,000.00 by the end of 2019!  Year to date, we have fallen far short of this goal by $21,000.  Therefore, we would appreciate any donation that you can contribute before the end of the year.

I want to thank all of the brothers who continue to support Delta Tau Nu and UD. I would like to ask any brother that has not participated in our events to consider it. There is nothing like seeing an old brother that you once did many things with (some good and some bad) during our time at UD. I will tell you that it has been a great experience to see many of the old brothers again; it’s like you never left and things get picked back up just like you never were apart. And it has been a great pleasure to meet some of the brothers I didn’t know as well.

As one brother has said before, “You know what you got into when you pledged to be a Delt!” And there is nothing like “Unity, Brotherhood and Pride!”

    How ‘Bout Them Delts!

    Regards,
