• RIP KEN ”TUNA” FISCHER, Jr.

    Bluffton resident, Kenneth E. Fischer Jr. passed away peacefully on June 5, 2022 at home with his family by his side. Ken was born on February 25, 1943 in Queens, NY to Eleanor and Kenneth Fischer. He attended University of Dayton where he met his future wife, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA. He was an active member and past president of Delta Tau Nu fraternity. His entire 50 year career was spent in the automotive tire industry, traveling extensively in the U.S., Asia and Europe. He was an avid golfer and loved taking multi-mile walks throughout Sun City. He could often be found at the driving range. He and his wife, Dolores, moved to Sun City 14 years ago where he served on numerous and diverse committees. Ken also served on the Facilities Committee at St. Gregory’s and attended Adoration every Sunday at 5 am.

    Ken is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dolores, his four children and their spouses, Kristi (John) Lebrevelec, Delray Beach, FL; David (Jackie), Newtown PA; Debbie (Tommy) Dimitrovski, Buffalo, NY and Michael (Elisa), The Colony, TX. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Janice Lemmons, Springfield, OH and Mary Pat Lemmons, Colorado Springs, CO. He deeply loved his ten grandchildren: Jessica, Meghan, Noah, Isabelle, Allison, Aidan, Matthew, Dylan, Sophie and Daxton.    

    Ken’s funeral Mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton on June 27 at 10:30 am followed by placing his remains in the Resurrection Garden behind the Church. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a charity of your choice or make a donation to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation in his honor. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at Jameson’s Charhouse Dining Room at 1 pm.
